HARTFORD, Conn. — Top Connecticut officials announced on Monday that $5.3 million in state funding will support several dozen new high-quality afterschool programs locally this school year.

Over the next two academic years, the state will provide nearly $10.6 million for these programs.

The funding is made available through the State Department of Education’s After-School Grant Program and will support 41 grants in 30 communities.

The money will facilitate afterschool programs that provide academic support and enrichment opportunities beyond the school day.
