Violence erupted in Leh, Ladakh on September 24. Restrictions were imposed here afterwards.

Representatives from Ladakh will hold talks with the central government in Delhi on October 22. Before this, talks between both sides were held in May. A deadlock had persisted between both sides since the violence in Leh on September 24.

Chering Dorje Lakruk, co-chairman of the Leh Apex Body (LAB), informed that the talks would be with a sub-committee of the Union Home Ministry.

The meeting will include three representatives, each from LAB and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), Ladakh MP Mohammad Haneefa Jan, and their lawyer. The main agenda of the talks will be the demand for statehood and protection under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
