Lokpal had issued tender for buying 7 BMWs on October 16.
Congress leaders have criticised the Lokpal office's decision to buy seven high-end BMW 330 Li long-wheelbase luxury cars.
Former Home Minister P Chidambaram questioned why the Lokpal chairman and six members need expensive cars like BMWs when Supreme Court judges use ordinary sedans.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Singhvi wrote on X, “It is disheartening to see an anti-corruption body now buying BMWs for its members. They seem less like guardians of honesty and more like followers of luxury.”
The Lokpal office had issued a tender on 16 October to purchase seven BMWs. According to the tender, each car costs over ₹70 lakh, with the total cost for all seven expected to exceed ₹5 crore.
