John C Hopper, longtime owner of the car dealership that bore his name, the former owner of the now-defunct North Bay Centennials of the Ontario Hockey League, former Kiwanis Club President and one-time citizen of the year has died.

Hopper owned the Centennials during their glory run when they won the OHL in 1994. However, that was just a small part of his activities in the city

Councillor Chris Mayne and a Kiwanis Club member, had this to say, “John Hopper was life-long Kiwanian, was a larger-than personality, was very generous and supportive of various projects in the city such as the Laurentian Ski Hill. John was a sponsor of the Paedeatric wing of the North Bay Regional Health Centre,” says Mayne.
