CHEYENNE — Cheyenne City Council Finance Committee members are considering whether to allow Mayor Patrick Collins to enter a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with nearby counties and cities regarding how to divide up roughly $12 million in impact funds associated with the Chugwater Energy wind project.

Committee members discussed the resolution at a meeting Tuesday. The impacted areas include Laramie, Platte and Goshen counties, Wheatland and Chugwater.

The Chugwater Energy wind project is a wind farm proposed by NextEra Energy that will be built in Platte County. NextEra submitted its permit application to the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality’s Industrial Siting Division (ISD) in early September, which included an impact assessment for the surrounding counties and cities.
