COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released its preliminary report on a plane crash on North Powers Boulevard that occurred in early October.
On the morning of October 1, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said officers received several reports of a small airplane that had crashed and was leaking fluid.
The NTSB’s preliminary report of the crash shows that inspectors found no signs of mechanical issues that led to the crash.
The pilot told investigators that, while takeoff was normal, there were issues in getting the plane to gain speed and altitude.
According to the report, the pilot said the plane’s airspeed was around 80 miles per hour, which was “slower-than-normal” for the initial climb after takeoff.
