Brockville needs to be part of “a coalition of support for equitable and inclusive rail service,” says a motion taking aim at proposed Via Rail service cuts.
City council’s general committee on Tuesday endorsed a motion by Mayor Matt Wren calling on Via Rail Canada to maintain adequate passenger rail service in the region, and look at improvements.

The motion echoes a similar call from Kingston’s city council earlier this month.
Via Rail last month announced a three-month direct service pilot project on select Montreal-to-Toronto trains.
