CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Officials held a topping out ceremony Tuesday for the first three buildings of the $10 billion data center campus in Cedar Rapids.

QTS, Layton Construction, and The Weitz Company, held the ceremony at the construction site located at Big Cedar Industrial Center. State and local leaders, including Governor Kim Reynolds, were present at the event.

According to a release from QTS, the new facility serves as a $10B investment in Cedar Rapids, placing “Iowa as a leader in global digital infrastructure” and marking the largest economic development in Cedar Rapids’ history.

The facility will include a water-free cooling system, significantly reducing water consumption compared to traditional data center cooling methods, according to Cedar Rapids.
