BRAINERD — Sauk Rapids got its revenge.
The No. 5-seeded Storm upset the No. 4-seeded Brainerd Warriors 38-30 in the Section 8-5A play-in Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Adamson Field.
The Warriors defeated the Storm 49-14 in Week Three — the last Brainerd victory.
“Brainerd is a really good football team and does a good job,” Sauk Rapids head coach Phillip Klaphake said. “We threw the ball well and, then defensively, that was the best we tackled in a long time.”
Sauk Rapids never trailed as it jumped to a 16-0 lead early in the second quarter. The Warriors tied the game 16-16, but the Storm scored 15 points in the final minute of the first half to take momentum into halftime with a 31-16 lead.
