OREGON INLET, N.C — The widow of a man who died after the boat he was transporting to Florida capsized on the Outer Banks is sharing her story.

Her late husband, Frank Hennigan, died last Saturday.

Mary Hennigan said her husband would be remembered for his love for the sea, people, and most importantly, family.

She said she spoke to him just 30 minutes before his death, and his loss brought an unbearable pain.

On Oct. 18, Frank Hennigan was transporting a boat from New Jersey to Florida with one other person aboard. The boat was set to be used for off-season winter fishing in Florida.

The crew made the decision to head through the Oregon Inlet to make some repairs to the vessel in North Carolina.
