MINNEAPOLIS — The Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) is facing criticism from the city auditor over what he said is a lack of cooperation in ongoing internal audits into the department’s handling of several high-profile public safety cases.
City Auditor Robert Timmerman told the Minneapolis Audit Committee on Monday that his office has repeatedly encountered delays and resistance from MPD officers and leadership. According to Timmerman, the department has ignored more than a dozen attempts by city auditors to schedule interviews, request documents and gain access to systems.
