MOORHEAD — A break-in at a Moorhead apartment garage took more than just possessions, it took a lifetime of memories on two wheels.

David Knutson’s garage, filled with mementos from his past like old trinkets and fishing rods, also housed a rare collection of BMX bikes.

"One's called a Hutch, and it's just a freestyle bike. And back in the day, they didn't make a lot of them," Knutson said.

A few weeks ago, Knutson discovered four of his bikes were gone. "I had them all locked up, but they cut a big cord … and these bikes were nothing that you would like to have unlocked," he said. The collector items are estimated to be worth about $10,000.

"Nobody was going to get them until I, like, I say, until I passed away," Knutson said.
