The harm an abusive childcare worker caused to a boy "is lasting and we will carry it for the rest of our lives," the young victim's family has told a court.
"My son will grow up with this trauma shaping his life," the child's father said in a victim impact statement.
"Trust that never should have been broken was destroyed."
Muhammad Ali faced the ACT Supreme Court on Wednesday, October 22, two months after a jury found him guilty of committing an act of indecency on the victim.
With their verdicts, jurors found that the man had touched the child's genitals after giving him a piggyback ride when he worked at Ducklings Early Education in Charnwood in 2022.
In his statement, the victim's father said the hardest part of the years since the abusive act was his son's "loss of innocence".
