Oakvale Wildlife Park has just welcomed Keisho and Khyana, two red pandas whose arrival is about much more than adding cuteness.

The brother and sister duo join a global fight as advocates to save an endangered species.

Keisho and Khyana, both two years of age, are already proving to be cheeky and curious.

"We wanted to introduce a species that not a lot of people have seen before," said Oakvale Wildlife Park general manager Kellie Smith.

With fewer than 10,000 red pandas believed to remain in the wild, Oakvale hopes these "fluffy, red teddy bears" can be advocates for their wild counterparts.

"They certainly have a strong conservation message," Kellie said.
