New Delhi: This year Los Angeles city hall celebrated Diwali in a very special way. The event was organized by the Los Angeles City Council along with the Consulate General of India, Los Angeles. City Councilmember Nithya Raman, the first Indian American to serve on the council, led the celebration.

The program included the lighting of traditional lamps, Indian music and dance performances, and the presentation of a Diwali Proclamation by City Council Members Nithya Raman, John Lee, and Tim McOsker. They also welcomed the new Consul General of India, Dr. K. J. Srinivasa.

Former Los Angeles Mayor and current U.S. Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, attended the event along with many Indian community members from across the region.
