ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Gov. Brian Kemp will travel to South Korea this week for an economic development trip, less than two months after 300 Korean workers were swept up in an immigration raid at a Savannah-area car factory.

The raid, carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), was the largest workplace enforcement action in the history of Homeland Security. In total, 475 workers were detained, and most of the Korean workers were sent back home days later.

ICE said those workers were here on the wrong type of work visa. Most were contractors with specialized and proprietary knowledge of the equipment being installed – work Americans aren’t trained to do.
