ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The man accused of threatening to “shoot up” Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport made his first appearance in federal court Wednesday.

Billy Cagle, 49, is accused of making online threats to commit a mass shooting at the airport on Monday.

He faces federal charges of attempted violence at an international airport, interstate communications containing threats to injure the person of another and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

“I believe this is going to be a relatively straightforward case for federal prosecutors,” said Josh Schiffer, a criminal defense and trial attorney not related to Cagle’s case.
