With just two weeks until Election Day, the race to be the next governor of New Jersey is closer than most have estimated so far.
The latest Rutgers-Eagleton Poll shows that while Democratic nominee Rep. Mikie Sherrill has a five-point lead on her Republican opponent former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, it is within the margin of error.
Half of all respondents said they would vote Sherrill if the election were held today, 45% say they would vote for Ciattarelli, 3% say they would vote for neither or someone else, and 2% are unsure.
The poll contacted 795 likely voters from Oct. 3 to Oct. 17. As of Oct. 1, there are 6,609,895 registered voters with 2,525,346 declared as Democrats and 1,670,297 declared as Republicans.
