CANFIELD, Ohio (WOIO) - The funeral for an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper killed while helping the driver of a disabled semi in Canfield, will take place on Wednesday.

Trooper Nicholas Cayton’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at Youngstown State University’s Beeghly Center, 224 West Spring St.

Doors will open for seating at noon, and the service will begin at 1 p.m. The service will be open to the public.

Trooper Cayton was fatally struck on State Route 11 in Mahoning County around 11:50 a.m. on Oct. 16.

Trooper Cayton responded to the scene for a disabled semi tractor-trailer stopped in the right lane.

As Trooper Cayton was sitting in his cruiser, with the emergency lights activated, the driver of a second truck rear-ended him.
