Delegates of one of Australia's largest land councils discussed ways to "get rid" of its chief executive during a men's meeting last year, the court in a high profile Northern Territory defamation case has heard.

Central Land Council (CLC) CEO Lesley Turner is suing former shadow Indigenous Affairs minister Jacinta Nampijinpa Price in the Federal Court in Darwin over a press release her office distributed in July 2024.

Mr Turner, who is expected to give evidence on Thursday, claims the senator's release falsely stated he had lost the support of the CLC's board and implied he was no longer fit to serve in the role.
