In the bottom of the seventh, the Seattle Mariners watched their 3-1 lead and their hopes of finally winning the pennant – they are the only team to never reach the World Series – vanish. Blue Jays star George Springer’s go-ahead three-run homer, off former Red Sox reliever Eduard Bazardo, gave Toronto a 4-3 lead and their first pennant since 1993.
With that, the stage is set for a Blue Jays-Dodgers Fall Classic, and the last chance to watch Major League Baseball in 2025.
