Local Head Start safe after federal shutdown jeopardizes hundreds of programs nationally

Although federal funding is at risk for hundreds of Head Start early childhood education programs nationwide, local leaders said services in Frederick County are not in jeopardy.

Many Head Start programs across the country could lose their federal funding because the federal government is shut down. Some programs were scheduled to receive grant money on Nov. 1, according to the National Head Start Association (NHSA).
