The charity regulator has launched an investigation into Manchester Pride’s finances after a number of performers claimed they have not yet been paid for this year’s event.
Last week, a group of musicians, drag performers and DJs alleged they had been met with silence from Pride bosses as they chased up on when they would be given their performance fees.
Many acts said that whilst they had agreed to 60-day payment terms for their appearance at the August Bank Holiday event, they had received no clarity or information on when payment would be made. Others who had 31-day terms alleged they had not yet been paid.
Manchester Pride’s Board of Trustees issued a statement saying it had understood the ‘frustration and impact’ the ‘period of silence’ has caused performers. I
