TOWN OF SOUTHEAST – A 74-year-old Carmel woman was killed Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash on Route 312 in Southeast.

State Police identified the victim as Eleana Silk.

Troop K Public Information Officer Trooper Krystal Paolicelli said the tragic crash occurred around 7:45 a.m. when Silk’s Honda CRV was headed eastbound and crossed into the oncoming lane striking a Freightliner 18-wheeler head-on.

Nine-one-one calls sent members of the Brewster State Police, Brewster Police, Putnam Sheriff’s Department, Brewster Fire Department, Brewster EMS Corps and an Empress Paramedic to the scene; however, despite efforts to resuscitate Silk, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
