SALT LAKE CITY — After a set of solar panels was damaged in Monticello on Sunday, an arrest was made in the case. On Monday, the man was released on bond, according to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

Stephen Plato McRae, 56, of Luna, New Mexico, had a warrant issued for his arrest after the incident on Friday, when the solar panels were found destroyed .

The man who caught surveillance footage of the scene, Monte Wells, works with ranchers by installing cameras on the wells near the solar panels. According to him, the solar panels power water wells that they depend on to feed livestock.

According to the affidavit, McRae’s vehicle was spotted on County Road 263, otherwise known as Texas Flats Road, in San Juan County, near where the solar panels are located. McRae was also obse
