The student population in CBE has risen by 17,000 students to 146,000 over the past three years.

A majority of incumbents on the board of trustees at the city’s two main school districts were elected back to their seats, trouncing a concerted effort by a group to “conservatize” the province’s educational institutions.

The incumbents clinched five of the seven seats on the boards of the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) and the Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD), three of which were won by acclamation, meaning no one else competed for their roles.
