BOISE, Idaho — The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Idaho's governor on Tuesday weighed in on an FBI operation where hundreds of federal, state and local agents raided a horse racing facility in Canyon County on allegations of illegal gambling.
Nearly 200 federal, state and local law enforcement officers descended on the facility Sunday to execute a search warrant at the La Catedral Horse Arena in Wilder. According to the FBI, four people were arrested on Sunday and a fifth on Monday evening in connection to the investigation.
Dozens of others were detained Sunday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), including spectators and children who were there to watch the races. Idaho Gov. Brad Little's office on Tuesday confirmed more than 400 people attended the event.
