SULLIVAN -- One person was killed in a single vehicle crash in Sullivan Tuesday morning.
It happened a little after 10:30 on U.S. Highway 1 near the intersection with Taunton Drive.
Lt. Brian Archer with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says 32-year-old Gared Birdtail of Milbridge was traveling Westbound at what witnesses describe as a high rate of Speed.
Archer says Birdtail was unable to negotiate a curve which caused his vehicle to leave the road and descend a small Embankment.
According to Archer, the vehicle continued along the Roadside, struck a Tree, rolled onto it’s roof and collided with a second Tree before coming to rest.
Birdtail was the only occupant in the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
