Liverpool is looking to secure its place as the host city for the 2030 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, following its successful event in 2022. British Gymnastics announced the bid on Wednesday, highlighting the nation's growing prowess in the sport.
Sarah Powell, Chief Executive of British Gymnastics, emphasized the unique experience of competing at home, noting the potential for the event to bolster the team's preparation for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. She also cited previous successful events like the Women's Rugby World Cup as evidence of the potential benefits.
Support from UK Sport and Liverpool City Council bolsters the bid, which focuses on the 11,000-seat Liverpool Arena. The host country for the 2030 championships will be decided in May 2026.
