The Met Office has forecast the chance of snow this weekend, with two areas most likely to see a dusting.

From 10pm on Friday evening, temperatures of just 8C are expected to persist from Thursday throughout Scotland.

However, the weather authority added it is "always possible" wintry showers remain towards the end of October, even in northern England.

This includes sections of the eastern coastline, Wales and Northern Ireland, all potentially receiving some snow on Sunday morning.

Yet, the Scots are by far the most likely to see some, especially in the Cairngorms National Park, Ross and Cromarty, and the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
