The driver of a vehicle that was involved in a crash in Newtown over the summer that left one person dead and multiple others injured has been arrested, police said.

Emergency crews responded to a crash on Berkshire Road near Zoar Road around 2:40 a.m. on August 24.

Investigators said a 2017 Ford Mustang GT was going westbound on Route 34 (Berkshire Road) and missed a left curve in the road near Zoar Road.

After missing the curve, police said the vehicle went off the westbound side of the road and crashed into a large tree.

Authorities said 19-year-old Mary Cordero, of Danbury, was killed in the crash. Investigators believe she was sitting in the rear middle seat of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
