Ford Motor Company is recalling over 1.4 million cars and SUVs over concerns that the vehicles' rearview cameras pose a serious safety risk.
The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker, via a letter addressed to dealers earlier this month, reported a rearview camera in some cars and SUVs may fail to properly display an image, which reduces the driver’s view behind the vehicle.
The problem increases the risk of drivers crashing into pedestrians, other vehicles and stationary objects, according to the recall noticed posted this week by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The auto manufacturer said it was not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries connected to the issue.
