SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — State officials say SNAP benefits will not be issued in November due to disruptions caused by the government shutdown.
"Due to the federal government shutdown, payments for SNAP (food stamps) will not be issued in November," the Utah Department of Workforce Services said in a press release Wednesday.
According to state officials, if the government shutdown is not resolved by Nov. 1, 2025, all SNAP services may be interrupted. Customers are encouraged to plan for this possibility.
DWS also says there is a chance cards will not work after Nov. 1, even if there is a balance in the recipient's accounts.
SNAP is a federally funded program that assists roughly 86,000 households in the state each month. All of the funding comes from federal government funds.
