An IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Srinagar made an emergency landing at Varanasi airport on Wednesday after the crew detected a fuel leak.

The aircraft, 6E-6961, carrying 166 passengers and crew, touched down safely at 4.10 pm at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, said authorities. All passengers were safely evacuated and moved towards the arrival hall of the airport.

The pilot of the the flight (6E 6961) requested priority landing after noticing fuel leak. "The pilot of IndiGo Airlines flight number 6961, heading to Srinagar from Kolkata, noticed some fuel leak after which he immediately contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC) Varanasi and requested priority landing," Varanasi Airport director Puneet Gupta told The Times of India.
