ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A child was hit by a truck on State Road 296 in Escambia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to an FHP news release, the incident happened just before 9 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of SR-296 and Valley Escondido Drive.
INCIDENT LOCATION:
A 63-year-old Pensacola man was driving a pickup truck east in the right lane of State Road 296 near Valley Escondido Drive when he encountered a 5-year-old boy stopped and standing in the right lane ahead of him, according to the release.
The front of the pickup hit the child, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
No charges are pending for the pickup truck's driver.
