COVINGTON, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill announced a legal victory against Joiner’s Tree Service, LLC, and its owner, Jeffery Darren Joiner, over allegations of price gouging after Hurricane Ida.

The 22nd Judicial District Court in St. Tammany Parish issued a permanent injunction on Sept. 9, 2025, prohibiting Joiner and his company from performing or advertising any tree-related services in Louisiana.

The ruling also bars Joiner from collecting more than $126,000 in unpaid invoices from Louisiana consumers and insurers.

Judge John Keller also ordered the defendants to pay $25,000 in penalties, finding that Joiner’s Tree Service violated both the Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law and the Price Gouging Law under the state’s Homeland Securit
