WATERTOWN, Wis. (WMTV) - A Watertown student is being kept out of school as part of an investigation into a threat at Riverside Middle School, police said Wednesday.
Multiple reports of a student making a threat toward Riverside Middle School were forwarded to Watertown Police Department on Tuesday.
The school resource officer told police that officials received reports that a student was allegedly going to bring a weapon to school.
Separately, a person overheard comments about a possible school shooting, and sent that tip in anonymously to the Wisconsin Department of Justice Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin program.
Watertown Police Department interviewed students and parents. Officers identified the student they believe made the comments, who told officers the remarks were a joke.
