CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A man now knows how long he will spend in prison for his part in the 2021 shooting that killed a freshman Charleston Southern University football player.

Andre Bernard Moore Jr., 28, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, down from his original charges of murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon while committing a violent crime. He was sentenced to eight years in prison with credit for 1191 days served. That leaves him with roughly four years and eight months left in his sentence, which began Wednesday, according to court documents.

Moore was charged in connection to the death of 19-year-old Lorvens Florestal Jr., an athlete at Charleston Southern from Delray Beach, Florida.
