MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The death of a man at a homeless encampment in August in Milford was ruled a homicide, according to the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (CT OCME).
The victim, Joseph Kane, died after a fire on Aug. 15 in Milford. The CT OCME ruled that the cause of death was smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide, the office confirmed to News 8 Wednesday.
The homeless encampment was near Lowe's. A firefighter was injured while battling the fire and was discharged from the hospital a short time later.
Another person was injured during the fire.
