Story and photos by Richard W. Dionne, Jr. The Tiverton tennis team is headed to the D-3 semifinals after crushing Classical 4-0 in a quarterfinals match at Westport on Tuesday afternoon. The 11-3 Tigers are competing to win their second straight state title. “Our team is incredibly deep this year,” said head coach Jessica Cullinan. “We have grit throughout the whole line up. Our performance speaks to our chance at getting back to the championship.” Singles players, Courtnie Smith, Caroline Durost, Lia Doster and the first doubles team of Carly Sanna and Angie Cordeiro, all won their matches in straight-set victories for the Tigers. Smith, Tiverton’s second singles player, fell to Elena Correia 6-4, 6-2, the last time the two met during the regular season on Oct. 6. T
