George Finn stood in the southern end zone of the new Victory Field on Friday night and breathed a sigh of relief.
For the last five months, Finn has watched as crews transformed Barrington High School’s stadium field into a new athletic complex — a new multi-sport synthetic turf field, a new state-of-the-art track, new LED overhead lights, and more.
As the work progressed, Finn, who serves as the school’s director of athletics and student activities, waited for the day when the contractor would give the green light for BHS teams to begin playing games on the new surface. That day arrived on Thursday, Oct. 16: The Barrington High School girls soccer team played the first game ever on the new field. The Eagles delivered a 2-1 victory over Cumberland.
