Dozens of unable-to-fly wild ducks and geese at a sanctuary in Washtenaw County's Salem Township, earlier ordered killed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources , have received a reprieve.
Matthew and Theresa Lyson, husband and wife and co-founders of the nonprofit Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary in Washtenaw County's Salem Township, posted on the sanctuary's Facebook page on Tuesday, Oct. 21, that the DNR had reversed its order for the wild birds to be "humanely euthanized" within 30 days, made to the sanctuary earlier this month. The agency at the time cited the facility's lack of proper licensure and amenities.
