Washington D.C. (KLTV) - Veterans on the Brookshire Grocery Company Heroes Flight took part in a wreath-laying ceremony Tuesday morning at Arlington National Cemetery.

Two East Texas veterans, Thomas Hays of Tyler and Doug Woliver of Hideaway, participated in the solemn ceremony.

“That was quite an honor,” said Woliver. “When they were talking about laying a wreath, I thought we were going to place a wreath at a grave somewhere in Arlington. I did not know until today that we were going to lay a wreath of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.”

Other stops included the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps memorials. The day ended with emotional visits to the Korean and Vietnam Veterans memorials.

“I had a buddy to get killed over there,” said Billy Phillips, a Korean War Veteran from Flint.
