An amateur photographer has captured the incredible moment that Comet Lemmon passed over Lanarkshire.

Andy Dyce took the snaps showing the comet , which won't be seen for another 1300 years, from the Silvanus statue near Kilsyth.

Comet Lemmon (officially C/2025 A6) was only discovered in January after being detected through a telescope at Arizona’s Mount Lemmon. It swept through the sky for the first time since the early 8th century on Tuesday, October 21.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, Andy said: "I wasn't able to see it with the naked eye as there was some light pollution near the horizon. My digital camera revealed it as a faint star with a small tail.

"I also used my Seestar S50 smart telescope for a more detailed image of the comet, making the green nucleus, ion tail and dust tail
