KNOXVILLE, TN - Tennessee head baseball coach Tony Vitello is leaving Tennessee, the University of Tennessee has confirmed.

Director of Athletics Danny White congratulated Vitello on his move to the San Francisco Giants as Vitello reportedly works to finalize the deal.

"Congratulations to Tony on this incredible opportunity to lead the San Francisco Giants. We wish him the best as he embarks on this new chapter in his career and thank him for everything he has done to transform Tennessee baseball into a championship program," White said. "Our focus is on our players and coaching staff while finalizing the next steps in this evolving process."

UT has not named a replacement for Vitello. UT said it would hold a media conference at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday about the news.
