In another setback for the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Shweta Suman’s candidature from the Mohania Assembly constituency was cancelled after the Election Commission found irregularities in her application.

The Election Commission on Wednesday cancelled Suman’s nomination after finding that she was a native of Uttar Pradesh, making her ineligible for the seat. Mohania in Kaimur district is a seat demarcated for Scheduled Castes, and natives of another state cannot contest an election in a reserved seat, officials told news agency PTI.
