PAYNESVILLE — The Brandon-Evansville seventh-grade volleyball team will be playing for state hardware over the weekend.

The Chargers are among 40 total teams converging on the Paynesville Area Community Center and the Payneville Area Secondary School for the Pacesetter Minnesota Volleyball State Tournament, which will begin on Saturday, Oct. 25 with the seventh and eighth-grade tournaments. The ninth-grade tournament will be contested on Sunday, Oct. 26.

According to a release, the eighth-grade state championship will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, featuring 16 teams from Breckenridge, Paynesville, Aitkin, Annandale, Trinity of Waconia, ROCORI, New Ulm, Sauk Centre, Cambridge-Isanti, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, BOLD, Cloquet, Barnesville, Chatfield, and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.
