PARK RAPIDS, Minn. — Elijah Hensel has “a long, tough recovery” ahead after a car-jack accident Saturday, Oct. 18, left him with multiple injuries.

His girlfriend, McKenzie Shamp, and his mother, Karrie Hensel, have set up a GoFundMe page for the 25-year-old Park Rapids man.

Hensel, a father of two, sustained severe head injuries on Saturday, Oct. 18, while working on a demolition derby car with friends in Hewitt.

According to GoFundMe, “the car jack gave way and crushed the upper half of his body, with his skull pinned between the car and the concrete floor of the garage.”

Hensel’s friends were able to get the car off of him and begin aid before first responders arrived. He was then flown to a St. Cloud hospital for further treatment.
