The Arizona State Sun Devils will be without star wide receiver Jordyn Tyson on Saturday when they play the Houston Cougars on Saturday. Head coach Kenny Dillingham announced the news Wednesday, revealing he has a hamstring injury.

Tyson suffered the injury last week in their upset win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Dillingham was not ready to say how long Tyson will be sidelined.

"I'm trying to protect him from himself," he told Jakob Brooks of SunDevilSource. "That dudes a competitor out there, playing the end of last game, making plays. So this is something that we're making the decision to kind of protect him from him a little bit because he is such a competitor."

Tyson entered the season as one of the top wide receivers in the country and has lived up to the hype. The redshirt junior leads the Big 12 in receptions (57), yards (628), and touchdowns (8). He has become the focal point of Arizona State's passing attack, accounting for 39.3% of their receptions, 42.4% of their yards, and all but one of their touchdowns.

While the entire wide receiver room will have to step up, tight end Chamon Metayer could become the new No. 1 target for quarterback Sam Leavitt. The veteran has emerged as their No. 2 pass-catcher and is the only other Sun Devil to catch a touchdown from Leavitt, he is also third on the team in receptions (21) and second in yards (226).

Arizona State is set to host Houston (6-1) on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be on ESPN2.
