Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (8) drops back to pass against the Detroit Lions during the first half at M&T Bank Stadium.

Lamar Jackson may be on his way back to the Baltimore Ravens' nest.

The two-time NFL MVP quarterback has been sidelined with a hamstring injury that he picked up in Week 4. Jackson missed the team's next two games leading into the bye week, putting the focus on Week 8 as his potential return to game action.

At the time, the issue didn't seem serious. After nearly a month of uncertainty and a lack of timeline for Jackson's return, it's clear the injury was a bigger issue than expected.

With Baltimore sitting at 1-5 last in the AFC North, it's now or never for the Ravens.

Here's the latest on their quarterback and when his services may be available again.

When will Lamar Jackson return?

Jackson could be on track to return in Week 8, but the injury report will tell the story there.

He returned to practice on Oct. 22, marking his first practice session since suffering the injury. Jackson notably didn't participate in the team's session on Oct. 20, which only further clouded his availability.

Jackson appears to be limited in practice, however, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley. He was taking reps behind Cooper Rush and Tyler Huntley.

There is no indication whether that is a bad sign for Jackson's ability to play against the Bears or a little gamemanship from John Harbaugh.

Ravens QB depth chart

  1. Lamar Jackson (injured)
  2. Cooper Rush
  3. Tyler Huntley (practice squad)

Rush has started both games without Jackson so far, but the team has been outscored 61-13 in those contests.

Baltimore's defense has been another problem, but having its star quarterback could go a long way in relieving some of those issues.
